3 Months Later…
What does our 3 short months of marriage look like?
//
Marriage is such a perfect blessing. It's full of everything beautiful and challenging all at the same time. I'm incredibly thankful for all the opportunities to love John better than the moment before. It's crazy how one moment you're single and the next, your married. Personally, it's been quite a learning curve, in all the best ways possible. There's a natural stretching of your comfort zone that happens and I can't say I was totally prepared. The difference between being a married couple vs. a dating couple (and even engaged) is so unique and personally unexpected. In the dating phase, there's that natural excitement of seeing each other sporadically through the week, planning date nights, catching up on the phone, etc. Being married, the intentionality changes and it's been such a love-filled process.
I must say, after the first month of getting use to our "new normal", God has been SO GOOD (as He always is). There have been countless opportunities to become more selfless and put the other first. Through moving, juggling John's travel schedule, my new job, and merging our lives together as one, John and I have learned to soak up all the "little" moments. Listening and jamming out to music, eating all the food, and binging on shows are just some of the little moments neither of us want to forget.
It is so easy to feel overwhelmed with the perceived expectations of marriage, but honestly, the experience is different for every.single.couple. Social media can cause feelings of "not doing it right" or "not being enough", but remember that you're comparing a low moment with someone else's mountain-top experience that your seeing via social. Focusing on the moments that really matter have brought my anxious thoughts back down to reality. God is there in all your "little" moments just as much as He is in someone else's "mountain top" moments.
We are settling in and being thankful to God for the life He's blessed us with….and we're thankful for homemade nachos 🥳
